HOPE ASSEMBLY OF BIBLE CHRISTIANS - Notice of Closure
October 23, 2015 - Mississauga, ON, Canada
To Our Brethren and Sisters in Christ, Members of the Household of Faith
With a mixture of sorrow and gratitude to God for His faithful mercies to us over 27 years, we must announce that Hope Assembly of Bible Christians in Mississauga held its final Meeting for Worship and the Lord's Table on Tuesday 13 October 2015.
The Church commenced public worship and witness on 10 September 1988 and was chartered as an independent congregation on 14 January 1990. In the course of our life as a people, we have met in 7 successive venues from private homes to schools and community halls, and operated a pastoral centre for 2 years. We had one Pastor/Elder, and one Deacon, and baptized some 12 believers. Our efforts to spread the Gospel included open air meetings, 7 years of weekly "Grace and Truth" radio broadcasts, home visitation, hospital services, literature tables in malls and articles in local newspapers. The Church held affiliation with the Association of Regular Baptist Churches (Canada) for 13 years, and the Association of Reformed Baptist Churches of America for 8 years.
God's providences to us, including a decline in membership, the difficulty of finding public meeting space, and Pastor Bodner's health issues, have led us to this step.
We are thankful to the Pastors, Elders, Deacons and People of many sister Churches for their love, fellowship and prayers over the years.
We wish to commend to believers two books Pastor Bodner has written out of his ministry and experience, believing they can profit the soul and stimulate prayerful searching of the Scriptures, especially for pastors:
The House of God: A Book of Meditations on Paul's First Epistle to Timothy (Eugene, OR: Wipf & Stock Publishers, 2013) ISBN # 978-1-6203-687-9.
The Bible and the Church: Sermons, Addresses and Papers on Scriptural Issues of Polity and Practice (Saarbrucken: Blessed Hope Publishing, 2013). ISBN # 978-3-639-50068-4
Both items may be ordered through Amazon.com.
Now may the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that Great Shepherd of the sheep, through the Blood of the everlasting covenant, make you perfect in every good work todo His will, working in you that which is well-pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen. ( Hebrews 13:20-21. )
